Day Trip Overview

The Chagga tribe, famous in the northern part of Tanzania, was led by a local leader known as Mangi during colonial rule. Under his strict leadership, the Chagga people became creative and industrious, excelling in large-scale agriculture, particularly coffee and banana plantations. The Chagga also have a unique culture distinct from other tribes in Tanzania. This tour will introduce you to their local food, traditional brew (mbege), local medicine, and the coffee and banana plantations

Itinerary

After breakfast, our day starts from Moshi town to Chagga Village about a 45-minute drive. On the way, you will get to know about Moshi town with some other tourist attractions located on the way. After arriving at the village we will go through registration formalities with the village chairman. Then you can start the tour, our guide will describe the area and things found there. You will experience the Chagga lifestyle by visiting some families and observing their activities and local practices. In the village, you expect to see big trees, flowering plants, different bird species, and monkeys. After lunch you will continue to learn more about coffee and bananas before drinking/ testing the local brew designed by bananas or a cup of coffee then you will drive back to Moshi/Airport.
